There is precedence to this type of action. Operation Northwoods, a U.S false flag plan from 1962 documents an agenda of generating U.S. public support for military action against the Cuban government. The plan says, “The desired resultant from the execution of this plan would be to place the United States in the apparent position of suffering defensible grievances from a rash and irresponsible government of Cuba and to develop an international image of a Cuban threat to peace in the Western Hemisphere.”

1953 – Operation Ajax by the United States and the UK to overthrow the regime in Iran led by Dr Mohammed Mossadeq. The tactics employed in Operation Ajax were to carry out acts of terror and blame them on Mossadeq. “These included attacking a mosque, machine-gunning civilians and distributing phoney handbills”
1962 – Operation Northwoods. The United States planned terrorist-type activity to provoke a war with Cuba. The ‘cover and deception plan’ included:
- blowing up a US ship in Guantanamo Bay and blaming Cuba.
- sinking a boat load of Cubans on the way to Florida.
- Exploding plastic bombs in carefully chosen spots.
- Causing the destruction of a US plane in the air.
1967 – During the ‘Six Day War’, The CIA intelligence ship Liberty was bombed by unmarked Israeli planes. The attack was ordered by President Lyndon Johnson. It was designed to look like an Egyptian attack, thus giving the United States a pretext to enter the war. This was only averted when a Soviet spy ship appeared on the scene.
